It describes the norms and policies of the Company. We invite you to familiarize yourself with its contents and to refer to it when necessary. Our office personnel can also answer all of your questions.

FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES

IMPARTIALITY

The Company prides itself on policies which counter discrimination based on race, sex, colour, sexual orientation, civil status, age except as provided by law, religion, political conviction, language, ethnic or national origin, social condition or the handicap of an employee.

HONESTY

In our Company, you hold a position of truth and you are responsible on a day-to-day basis for the goods belonging to the Company. This requires a large sense of integrity on your part. All employees have an obligation towards the Company and this is why you cannot breach the trust that we have pun in you.

COMMUNICATION

As in all businesses, communication can sometimes be difficult despite our best efforts. We wish to maintain a policy based on open communication and wish to give you the possibility, if you feel your rights have been affected or if you have questions concerning your job, to discuss the situation with management so that we can rectify the situation as soon as possible.

WORK REGULATIONS

1 - VACATIONS

As stipulated by law.

The reference year is from May 1st of one year to April 30th of the next year. The annual leave indemnified is paid at the time of your vacation, which shall be at Christmas break following April 30th.

2 - TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT

Immediate discharge is mandatory in the case of major infractions of company rules, policy, procedures or civil law (i.e. theft, misappropriation of merchandise or property, intoxication, insubordination, consumption of possession of unauthorized drugs, etc.....)

3 - POLITENESS AND COURTESY

Courtesy to those with whom you come in contact in business and to you fellow workers helps not only to make working conditions more pleasant, but also to make you more successful in your job.

4 - TEAMWORK

Cooperation with your fellow workers means a great deal more than just making hours on the job more pleasant. It results in definitely improved work from the entire group and contributes directly to the company as a whole. Good teamwork counts -in increased efficiency and satisfaction, in more pleasant working hours and in advancement for you. Policies are intended for the good of all staff members, and the individual, as part of the team, must be prepared to conform to them.

5 - PARKING SPACE

Outside parking spaces are to be used only by those who have been assigned a space by the Company. If no parking space has been assigned to you, you cannot park in these spaces.

6 - DISCIPLINARY MEASURES

Any employee who does not conform to the above regulations or who commits any fault is subject to a disciplinary measure, including termination. Disciplinary measures that could be applied are verbal wearings, written warnings, suspensions and dismissals. A disciplinary measure is determined by taking into account the nature of the fault ad its severity.

7 - EMPLOYEE FILE

A file is held for every employee and contains documentation relevant to your employment with the Company. Since your application form constitutes the basis of your employee file, it is very important that any modification to your home address, your phone number, etc. be communicated in writing to the Company. Consequently, any communication from the Company will be sent to your last known address.

8 - ADDRESS CHANGE FAMILY STATUS & NEXT OF KIN

Be sure to advise the office of any changes in your marital status, additions to your family, home address, telephone number and next of kin. These are very important in your own interest. For tax purposes.

9 - REFERENCES

References are more valuable to you if addressed to a particular company, For this reason open testimonials are not given. If you should leave and apply for work with another company, the Company will gladly furnish a reference upon written request form that firm, and with your authorization.

10- STATUTORY HOLIDAY

Statutory holiday is paid for, providing the employee is working the full day before and the full day after the holiday if scheduled and has worked sixty (60) calendar days prior to the statutory holiday. The above applies to all statutory holiday except the National Holiday (June 24) whereby the employee receives full remuneration if he or she has worked for ten (10) days between June 1st and June 23rd.

11- HOURS OF WORK

The regular hours of work are the following:

Monday to Thursday: 07h30 a.m. to 05h00 p.m.
Friday: 07h30 a.m. to 04h30 p.m.
Saturday: 08h00 a.m. to 12h00 a.m.

During a pay week, the regular hours of work are the following, unless modified by office personnel:

Monday to Wednesday: 07h39 a.m. to 05h00 p.m.
Thursday and Friday: 07h30 a.m. to 04h30 p.m.
Saturday: 08h00 a.m. to 12h00 a.m.

Even though the law does not require the Company to do so, the employee who works all day is entitled to two (2) paid coffee-breaks, one (1) in the morning and one (1) in the afternoon. The duration of these coffee-breaks is ten (10) minutes. As for the lunch period, it last half-an-hour and is not paid.

At the beginning of the work shift or at the end of the lunch period, you will hear a bell: this means that is the time to start working. At the end of the second coffee-break, you will hear a bell: this means that it is time to start working.

You must be at your work station when the second bell rings.

Shortly before the beginning of the coffee-break, or of the lunch period or at end of your work shift, you will hear a bell ring indicating that you can leave your work station.

It is prohibited to leave your work station before the sound of the bell.

12- CONTROL OF WORK

You will also receive a time card every day to indicate the work performed during the day. This card must be punched in and remitted to the foreman, unless you obtain written authorization to the contrary by the office.

If you are in section of "KADUNA REFINERY" in the vicinity of the security guard office, your card must be always handwritten by the foreman director.

If you are in section of "SUPER TANKER ***COY***" in the vicinity of a punch-clock, your card must be punched in, not handwritten.

If you are at the "HEAD OFFICE" or at "FRONT DOOR DIRECTION", your card can be punched in or hardwritten.

13- HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK

Your health and your safety are as important to us as it is to you. Our goal is to protect you against any possible danger and to ensure a level of health and safety that is above standard. However, we cannot reach this goal unless you take the utmost care and caution. For this reason, some procedures are to be followed and certain rules have been established and must be applied in order to provide you with a safe workplace and safe working methods.

For employees working in pipe department, it is highly recommended for your protection that you wear steel capped shoes.

No apparatus must cover your ears other than earplugs used to protect against excessive noise. You are also not allowed to play your own radio during working hours.

The electric jigger is to be used only to transport material and not people. Also, if not in use, the manual jigger must always be left in a downward position. These measures are taken to avoid any accidents. If these instructions or any other safety rules are not applied, severe disciplinary measures will be imposed.

14- SPECIFIC PERMISSION

Coffee-breaks and lunch periods must be taken at the scheduled time and cannot be moved at a later time unless specific authorization is given by the office. An employee cannot leave his work station before the scheduled time for the coffee-break or for lunch and must be back at his work station on time. Any violation of this rule will bring a disciplinary measure.

If you are so scheduled, work on Saturdays is mandatory unless you obtain permission from the office to be absent. You cannot get this permission more than one (1) Saturday per month.

A punch card is handed out to you in order to allow you to register your working hours so that you can get paid based on the hours worked. No one but yourself can use your punch card on your behalf, for whatever reason.

You must punch your card only when you are ready to work. If you forget to do so, whether at the beginning of the day, at lunch time or at the end of the day, you must have it corrected by the office the next time you use your card.

Your punch card must be placed in the proper slot designated for this purpose, at all times.

It is strictly prohibited to receive or to make personal phone calls during working hours, except in cases of emergency with the permission of the office, which also implies that your cellular phone must not be with you or at your workstation during your shift. You can only use the phone at extention 99 for a maximum of time of 3 minutes if someone else needs the phone. When bell rings you must hang up.

15- ABSENCE AND LATENESS

Any absence or lateness has repercussions on the operations of the business and on the scheduling of manpower. That is why the Company strongly recommends that employees schedule their personal appointments outside working hours.

If you expect to be late or absent on a specific day, you should personally call at the nearest security office of "Riendeau Construction By The Sea", as soon as possible, before the beginning of your work shift in order to inform the office of your lateness or absence.

Also, if during the course of the day you expect that you will have to leave work or leave early, it is your duty to advise the office as soon as possible at the beginning of the day or as soon as you become aware of your obligation to leave.

The employee who must leave work before the end of his shift or who arrives late must have his punch card signed by the office.

To avoid any disruption that could result from employees arriving for work late, we apply the following rule: any employee who arrives at work four (4) minutes or more after his scheduled working time must wait for the hour or the half-hour before punching his card and starting to work. For example,

- If the employee arrives at 07h34 or later, he must wait until 08h00 before punching in and starting to work;

- If the employee arrives at 08h04 or later, he must wait until 08h30 before punching in and starting to work;

- If the employee arrives at 12h34 or later, he must wait until 13h00 before punching in and starting to work;

- If the employee arrives at 13h04 or later, he must wait until 13h30 before punching in and starting to work;

Any employee starting more than half-an-hour after his scheduled time will not be entitled to the next coffee-break.

At any time, the Company can require that an employee produce a medical certificate or any other document justifying his absence, his lateness or justifying the necessity to leave early.

At any time, the Company can require that an employee to go see its own doctor to verify the extent of a work accident.

16- CLEANLINESS OF THE WORK PLACE

Your work station is under your responsibility and must be kept clean at all times. The same rule applies for the place were you break or have lunch.

If you bring soft drink cans or beverages to your work station, they must be returned to the recycling bin designated for that purpose or garbage, at the next break, during lunch hour or at the end of the day.

17- PERSONAL BELONGINGS

All personal belongings, including cellular phones, must be kept in the locker area. The company reserves all rights to search any parcels or handbags.

18- PROBATIONARY PERIOD

All employees beginning employment at "Riendeau Construction By The Sea" are subject to a probationary period of three (3) months. During this period, the employee will learn the different aspects of his job and his capabilities to occupy this new job will be evaluated. The Company can terminate the employment of the employee without notice during theis probationary period if he does not meet the criteria oad requirements of the job. After his probation and if his evaluation is satisfactory, the employee will become a regular employee.

All employee obviously have the responsibility to learn and master the tasks assigned to them. If, at the beginning, you have questions concerning your work, we strongly suggest that you ask all the appropriate questions and take good notes to refer to in the event that you forget certain aspects of your work. All your notes must be remitted to the office personnel so that photocopies can be made in the event you lose your copy.

If you encounter problems in carrying out your work, we ask that you contact directly the person that assigned the job to you and nobody else. If this person is not close to your work station, use the closest phone to contact that person.

19- WAGES

The success of our business depends on the contribution of all our employees. Our wage policy takes this into account. The wage scale is, as a result, based on the principle of an adequate remuneration that takes into account the performance, the job, the functions and responsibilities of each employee. This remuneration is also based on the prevailing economic context. Pay cheques or direct deposit pay are remitted every second Thursday.

20- ALCOHOL AND DRUGS

The consumption of alcoholic beverages, drugs or narcotics on work premises or during work hours, except for medical reasons, is prohibited and constitutes a serious offence that could result in termination. This also true if an employee works whis his capabilities are impaired by drugs or alcohol.

21- USE OF TOBACCO AND WORK STATION

Smoking while working increase the risk of fire and damage to goods and equipment belonging to the Company. Moreover, experts agree to say that the connsumption of cigarettes and the presence of secondary smoke can cause serious health problems. For all these reasons, and since we wish to maintain a healthy work environment, it is prohibited for employees to smoke in the workplace, with the exception of the cafeteria at the Head Office or any other designated location totally outside of the work station. Of course, it is prohibited to smoke during working hours.



I, the undersigned, ___________________________________________ , acknowledge to have received a copy of the Employee handbook and work regulations. I also will submit myself to an inspection to search my personal effects for verification. I know that such an inspection or search can be conducted at any time, during work hours or at the end of the day, by the direction or the IN HOUSE SECURITY, which represents my employer.
