A greenhouse of 25 square miles in zone 2 for the culture of the dwarf Macintosh apple trees.

A greenhouse of 25 square miles in a perfect square of 5 miles of each of the four sides would take a cement foundation of 8 inches thickness and a height of 15.5 feet of which 6.5 feet would be under the ground and 9 feet over the top of the ground. At the bottom there would be six inches of cement on 25 square miles. There would be on the foundation along the walls no windows. There would be ten gates of garages and twelve entrace doors. On two opposite sides there would be four gates of garage each one and four entrace doors. On the two others side there would be a gate of garage and two entrace doors. The roof would be a structure of wood in accordion with plates of unbreakable glasses of approximately a half inch thickness. There would be some of these windows which could open interior but the majority of this cover of glass and wood would simply let pass the light. Here approximately is the appearance of the quite empty building.

By the interior, there would be a cement column to every 9 feet starting from the bottom up to the ceiling to hold the cover. Each column would have approximately 9 inches by 9 inches on more than 15.5 feet height. The exact lenght would be adjusted for the perfect verge of the cover on these columns. A piping adjusted to forward of fresh water by terminals fountains, on 25 terminals fountains would be installed starting from the bottom of this structure of cement. The pipe of each terminal fountain would go up rather high so that at least the head of the terminal fountain is at 8 feet and makes it possible starting from this height to make squirt bowels of waterings without having to dig to find the valve. In the center of each of the 25 square miles of the greenhouse there would be a terminal fountain ready to feed out of drinkable fresh water. On all cement surfaces by the interior it would have stuck one to it four inches of styrofoam SM and of launched to the insulating foam jet all the recesses within reach with panels so that the insulation of 15.5 feet by 20 miles plus 25 square miles and all the columns of 9 inches by 9 inches out of 15.5 feet height insulated by one four inches of styrofoam SM on all surfaces up to the ceiling.

One would cover these primary structures by the interior of 6 feet of cultivate one's mind ground for the production of macintosh apples. Maybe in all and everywhere six feet height by 25 square miles. One would add an adequate electric system of lighting to the solar lamp by the cover and a heating system by electric air-heaters by the columns. To only provide electricity to him, it would be necessary in a small hydro-electric power station or a small nuclear electric engine for approximately 75,000 kilowatt/hour. Or both is a small stopping to preserve a sufficient hold back of clear water and a nuclear electric engine suffisantly powerful to provide the necessary quantity of electricity. Between each column, there would be a small pavement of a foot thickness on the soil of 1.5 feet of width is in all and everywhere with every 9 feet of width on 5 miles of width in a direction and the same thing in the other direction to make the checherwork or the crossing.

In the center of each one of these squares one plants a dwarf Macintosh apple tree resulting from a culture of seedbed and where there was a graft. They are trees preselected very severly. Then one subjects lightning, the heating and the moisture of the air to a computer which internally will reproduce the climate of a zone 4B by eliminating the too hamful points. That is done by adjusting a curve on another while carrying out against adjustment programmed over one permanent period. When the winter arrives and that snow starts to fall, one even will seek snow and one puts 3 feet of snow on the surface inside, history not to have has to sprinkle at the beginning of the spring. One lets go the temperature as low as 15 degrees F. during a few weeks and one goes up gradually by respecting even a cycle of freezing and thaw of a few weeks many times.

During the first ten years, very little production of apples will be done. On the other hand since the trees are not yet with maturity, table everywhere are installed and one cultivates on table of the green species such, Roman salad, curly salad, cabbages, cauliflower, celery, parsley and rhubarb. That one makes this culture but by respecting very rigorously the tendencies of the climate for the apple trees and not of the tendencies of the climate of these auxiliary vegetables except for the watering. When there is many cleaning cut to make on the trees and the available space will not be any more sufficient, one will be satisfied to make only the culture of these dwarf apple trees.
